No! The Paper Mat (seen when you receive a new system) is part of the system, so please don’t remove it!
To help explain questions like this we have added some new videos as part of our Envirolet® 101 video playlist on YouTube.

We’re glad to report that Ed’s camp in Upstate NY is getting much more use since the addition of their Envirolet® Basic Plus non-electric waterless composting toilet system. Along with his Envirolet® story he sent some nice photos of the installation. He writes:
Dear Sirs:
“Attached are pictures of the Envirolet system that we put in place at our rural camp in Upstate New York State.
We have had the property in the family for over 70 years. The camp on the property was built by my father when he was a teenager, in the late ‘30s and it really hasn’t changed except for a new roof or two. There was no electricity or water. The outhouse was not in very good shape and the lady folks in particular did not look forward to having to venture to the “shed.”
Three years ago I did extensive research on an environmental sensitive waste system and decided on the Envirolet. We had a family work bee and constructed a shed and put some “fancy” improvements in side. Now our family members come and stay much longer. The ladies and children don’t mind at all a trip to the new “loo.”
The camp is getting a lot more use from the family as they can come and stay longer. That hasn’t changed over 70 years and hope it never does.”
Thanks,
Ed D.

Thanks to Ed who sent some great comments and photos of his Envirolet® DC12 12VDC waterless composting toilet system installed in the Virginia mountains.
“Hi,
My wife and I bought some land in the Virginia mountains that we and our families use for camping. It is the site of a turn of the century house and has only been used as a hunting camp for a long time.
We love going there but one thing we definitely did not like was the old outhouse. It was old, dirty, full of spiders and insects, and drafty. It is also smelly and very dark at night. We put up with it for a few years and after researching composting and other types of toilets we bought a 12VDC waterless self-contained unit several years ago.
We also bought a small shed kit that became the new “outhouse” and storage shed. We can actually store things in the shed because even though the toilet is there is it clean and doesn’t smell. I also installed a small solar powered light so we can close the doors for complete privacy. We love it! We haven’t had problems with it just using the turbine with no power at all for several years§. However, there are enough kids in the family now that when we camp we are over the capacity limit so I will hook up a solar panel and small battery that we will use on camping trips.

Thanks, Ed! We appreciate it.

Lee Ann of Minnesota sent some nice photos of her Envirolet® Basic Plus non-electric waterless composting toilet system installed and used in her Wisconsin cabin. The system was purchased in February 2007.
“Hello,
We just recently built a remote cabin in Northern Wisconsin and have installed your waterless no power composting toilet. So far so good :)
It is very nice to have a bathroom!!”
Thanks,

Thanks to Sarah for sending in photos of her Envirolet® Waterless Remote System installation in Colorado. This is her second Envirolet® and she loves how much it functions like a “normal toilet!”
“Here are photo’s of my composting toilet that I use in my cabin in the mountains of Southern Colorado. I love it!!!! This is my second Envirolet toilet. I used to have the self contained system before my cabin was built that we kept in the shed next to our trailer. It worked great but I was always hesitant to invite guests down who were not used to “roughing it.”
Once we built the cabin we installed the remote system. It feels more like a normal toilet. I’m having trouble with my water system right now so I have to bring water with me but because I have the waterless toilet I don’t have to worry that I have no toilet facilities.
Last year I had lots of guests come with me throughout the summer and the system worked great!!! Everyone who visits is impressed with my bathroom facilities.”
Thanks,
Sarah L.

Paul in Ontario Wins Husband of the Year Award
Soon-to-be Envirolet® users Paul & Colleen sent in some great comments and photographs of their system. They purchased a cottage (a birthday gift for Colleen!) that had a pre-loved Envirolet® MS10 waterless composting toilet system in it. Colleen writes:
“Hi,
Ever since I knew my husband, (almost 30 years married), he always wanted a cottage on an island. (He camped on an island as a child).
Recently, Paul asked me what I wanted for my birthday (in August, I’ll be 50), and jokingly I said “a cottage.” Guess what? We take possession on the weekend of my birthday, and the cottage is on an island!!!!
I’ve always said NO to staying on an island, because of the “outhouses.” This particular cottage that we looked at has an “Envirolet Toilet,” (won’t have to use an outhouse) and that is the main reason I agreed to look at it. To me, this was one of the selling features of this cottage, and the toilet even looks good! Who knew that a toilet would be the reason I would buy a particular cottage? The previous owners installed it a couple of years ago, and just loved it.
NO MORE COMMUNAL OUTHOUSE, SHARED BY 6 OTHER COTTAGES!!!!! They have agreed to “clean it out” before the possession weekend, and they recommended your site for supplies, and a starter kit.

I called your support staff, and the 2 young ladies were extremely helpful and AWESOME to work with. I’ve attached photos of the toilet, as they recommended. The model and serial number is as follows: Sancor Multi System 10 — s/n 24-33067XXXXX [modified by Buzz].
Thank you so much for a great product, wonderful support staff, and being thoughtful about our environment.”
Sincerely,
Paul & Colleen L.
