Works-in-a-Drawer Box

Posted by Scott

Another great feature found only on Envirolet® Composting Toilet Systems is the easy-to-remove Works-in-a-Drawerâ„¢ Electrical Box (or WID Box).

The WID houses all the electrical components (fans, heater, thermostats).

It is located on the top of the unit away from any waste. You simply remove the Top Panel and you have easy access to the WID Box.

Compare this to other compost toilet systems out there that have some of the electrical componments located at the bottom of the unit, below the waste! And, if you are comparing, be sure to ask the other companies to see their electrical components. See if they will show you the parts!

We are happy to show you the electrical components inside Envirolet® Systems.

Remember too that Envirolet® has the longest warranty in the composting toilet industry for electrical components.

"More use out of our trailer."

Posted by Scott

Tom and Pat S. in Pennsylvania sent us some photos and a detailed testimonial about their Envirolet® MS10 that they purchased in 1999 for use in a converted office trailer. Talk about a great way to recycle something!

“We purchased our Envirolet waterless self-contained toilet in October 1999 to use in an office trailer. We had purchased the office trailer used and put it on our property to use as hunting cabin.

Regulations in the area required we have a sanitary method to dispose of human waste since we have no running water on property this was a problem.

We found infomation on your toilet on the internet and after checking with the DER found it met zoning requirements in an area where there is no running water.

The toilet was easy to install, a pleasure to use and requires little or no maintainence and is attractive to look at.

Its biggest selling factor is that it is odor-free. Since we do not use the toilet daily we only use the heater and fan while we are in residence. This can be as little as hours or up to a week at a time. We use your compost accelerator kit and regular peat moss to cover waste. By using the heater feature it not only drys out waste but has the added advantage of keeping the seat nice and warm on cold winter days.

This toilet has enabled our whole family to get more use out of our trailer.

If you need additional info please contact us.”

Thanks,
Tom and Pat S.

Recycle on Freecycle

Posted by

Waste not, want not. Perhaps your neighbour could use that old computer or sports equipment you are putting out for garbage pick up. Post it on freecycle.org, and prove - what goes around, comes around.

The founder of the Freecycle Network, Devon Beal, has changed the voice of one, to the voice of almost 1,800,000 people! In May 2003, he created a simple email subscription list posing a few items he wanted to give away. His idea was that someone could use this stuff rather than adding to the landfills.

Beal began Freecyle in his area (Tuczon, Arizona). It quickly bloomed locally and requests came for expansion to other nearby cities. Today, Freecycle members range across the globe (except Antarctica). The largest group in the world is in Portland, Oregon with a whopping 20,166 members! That’s about 3% of the whole city!

As quoted by Margaret Mead, “Never doubt a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

The Space Age Enviro-House

Posted by Scott

This is one of my favourite Envirolet® installation photos.

This system was installed in a modern out-building for winter use.

This “outhouse” puts the traditional outhouse to shame! It’s cool looking, clean, spacious and has windows!

Of course, don’t forget that it has an advanced, environment-friendly, 12v Envirolet® Composting Toilet System in it!

The customer called it the Space Age Outhouse, but we’re calling it the Space Age Enviro-House because using an Envirolet® is nothing like using an outhouse!

Envirolet in Barcelona (Revisited)

Posted by Scott

Envirolet® was displayed as part of the Cubes of Good Ideas project at Forum Barcelona 2004 in Barcelona, Spain.

Forum Barcelona examines the main social and cultural conflicts facing humanity in the 21st century through experimentation and reflection. The Forum was held during September 2004.

What are the Cubes of Good Ideas?
The Cubes of Good Ideas are 2.5m cubed glass cube structures distributed around the Forum Barcelona site that are designed to showcase Forum values. Using a series of extraordinary objects, the cubes visually encapsulate the concepts developed in the exhibits staged in the Haima, in workshops and in the game activities and stores located on the Port terraces. Visitors can follow the 2km route marked out by the cubes to get a rapid overview of the Forum territory.

Envirolet Sealed Bottom Panel

Posted by Scott

Bottom Panel

Another great feature found on Envirolet® Composting Toilet Systems is the sealed bottom panel.

Sounds like an obvious feature, right? Well, it’s not. Some other compost toilets out there do not have sealed panels.

Why is this an issue? Think of it this way. On a weekend, you have many guests (above rated capacity) and therefore extra amounts of liquid waste are added to the system. The system will evaporate the liquid. But, with the extra amount of liquid it may be a bit behind in the process (normal).

The sealed panel allows this to happen without any leakage. Unsealed systems cannot claim this.

Read how the Envirolet® bottom panel is attached here.

There is more on the inside...

Posted by Scott

This 3D image demonstrates some of the working components that make an Envirolet tick.

When comparing composting toilet systems, be sure to ask exactly what is inside the system. While more does not immediately equate to better, there are many components that will add function to the composting process such as those found in Envirolet® Composting Toilets.

Envirolet® is not an empty shell like some others.

Shown is an Envirolet® Low Water Remote System.

More than meets the eye... (1978)

Posted by Scott

More than meets the eye...

This grainy photo is of another old Envirolet ad from around 1978. The photo was taken of the original ad that is on a sort of foam board.

This ad actually had it’s home in our production facilities for a while. Luckily it was rescued a few years ago and now calls an office home.

The More than meets the eye… theme grew out of the desire to show that there truly was a lot in an Envirolet Composting Toilet System. It’s not just a hollow shell!

Ban The Flush! (1977)

Ban the Flush!

This is one of the original advertisements for Envirolet from 1977.

The classic Ban The Flush! slogan was used for a few years, often confusing people into thinking we were actually trying to ban flush toilets. I guess we were then and still are today!
