Composting Toilets
The Real History of Composting Toilets
Envirolet® was first introduced to the world in 1977. Next year it turns 30.
Envirolet® wasn’t the first composting toilet. We didn’t invent the concept of composting toilets. We know that. Does that matter? We don’t think so. Do you know who sold the first microwave? Neither do we.
You might assume that the first composting toilet was invented by one of the other companies out there that claim they invented the first one. Unbelievably, there are more than one that make that claim.
The fact is, composting toilets have been around for well over 100 years.
Take a look at these waterless self-contained composting toilets from the 1800s!
There’s the Earth Closet from 1881 and the Earth Commode from the 1860s.
