"...takes up less space than one would imagine."

Posted by Scott

Spencer sent in some really nice shots of an Envirolet® MS10 in a small mobile home, noting that it does not take up a lot of space.

“I live in a Park Model, which is a very small mobile home, and the bathroom is extremely small. Yet the Envirolet Waterless Electric Multi-System still fits. It seems large, but takes up less space than one would imagine.”

Thank you,
Spencer S.

Please send us your Envirolet® photos and story! We would love to see more mobile home, trailer, RV, etc. photos.

"I really like the convenience of having a restroom indoors..."

Posted by Scott

RJ in Vermont sent some wonderful photos and comments about his Envirolet® Basic Plus System (waterless, non-electric) installed in his Vermont cabin. Looks like a greaty set-up!

“Dear Envirolet,

I built a new hunting cabin last year and after looking at all of my options for toilet facilities, I purchased and installed an Envirolet Basic Plus composting toilet. I do have electricity, but decided to go with the non-electric version because I leave the cabin unattended for weeks at a time. There is usually only 2 of us that go there and sometimes 3. I added a 4” step up platform so that the seat height is the same as my home toilet for my shorter legged guests.

After having it for the last year, I really like the convenience of having a restroom indoors, especially during the cold winter months. I attached a few pics of my Envirolet installation and a pic of my cabin.

Thanks for a great product!

"THANK YOU SANCOR for saving me thousands of $$$$$$$!"

Posted by Scott

Thank you to Ralph in Washington for sending us his photos of his Envirolet® MS10 composting toilet system installation. We’re glad to have save him a lot of money and to have convinced his reluctant wife!

“THANK YOU SANCOR for saving me thousands of $$$$$$$!

I wanted to add a bathroom to my game/workout room which is located about 30 yards from my house. The cost of a permit, trenching to my septic, plumbing, fixtures etc. would have cost thousands!

After researching every possible composting system on the net, I decided to go with Sancor; I could not be happier!!! Even my, at the time, reluctant wife is now amazed at how well it works and absolutely no odor!

Envirolet MS10 in Pennsylvania

Posted by Scott

Mike in Pennsylvania sent us some photos of his Envirolet® MS10 installation. He installed the system with a higher vent stack because of the heavily wooded surroundings.

“Here are the pictures of the toilet in our shed in the woods in Union County, PA. We extended the stack, which works great.”

OK, so maybe it’s not old enough to be classic… but this older Buzz post is definately worth checking out:

The Real History of Composting Toilets dispels some of the myths about the origins of composting toilets and shows just how old they are!

Once in a while, we will post links to older important Buzz posts.

"All of our neighbours think it's great and are using us as the guinea pig..."

Posted by Scott

Brian in Alberta was kind enough to send some comments and photos of his great Envirolet® Waterless Remote System installation.

We have a lake cottage on Skeleton Lake in Northern Alberta. Our summer village council recently passed a by-law prohibiting outhouses so we had to find an alternative for our beloved privy. I did some research on composting toilets and decided to purchase an Envirolet 12 volt waterless composting toilet. We have a valley on one side of our property and I decided to dig out a spot for the composter and build a building above it for the toilet - sort of like a walk out basement concept.

From our cottage you walk in the front of the toilet building and you wouldn’t even know the lower storey (basement) is there. From the back side you can see the two stories. For the lower level we just dug out the hill, put down cement sidewalk blocks for a floor and built three walls out of pressure treated 4x6 landscaping timbers. We then built a door on the lower level so we could access the composter.

The upper level is stick-framed and we put down linoleum flooring, installed a 12 volt light for night time use and fans to blow cool air in on hot days and put panelling on the walls. We have a cabinet to hold tp etc., and keep a bottle of hand sanitizer on top of it for waterless washing up. For a ceiling we used corrugated clear fibreglass roofing (Filon). We installed two 10 amp solar panels inside the building under the clear roof and framed them in so you don’t even see the solar panels. The ‘basement’ houses the 12 volt battery. Building the structure and landscaping around it was done over the course of 8 weekends in the summer. Installing the composter and toilet only took a couple of hours.

We’re extremely happy with it and can’t believe how odourless it is. All of our neighbours think it’s great and are using us as the guinea pig to test it out for a season before they buy one.

Here’s some pictures of our new deluxe outhouse.”

"We love our Envirolet installation!"

Posted by Scott

A big thanks to carol & Sid for sending in their comments and photos. They have an Envirolet® MS10 installed in their beautiful cabin in Wisconsin.

We are building our little stone cabin in the woods of Wisconsin this year, and we love our Envirolet installation!

Building codes required us to have a large conventional septic system built, but we chose to put in the Envirolet anyway, and we are very happy with our choice.

The extra white PVC pipe* coming in at a diagonal from the floor in the photo is a sewer gas outlet for the gray water from the system, although we may not have needed it. All that goes down the drain into the septic tank and drain field is shower and sink water. The best use of the septic mound construction has been the garden space it provides where we have some beautiful wild flowers in bloom this summer!

We emptied our Envirolet for the first time last week, after 4 months of continuous residential use by 2 people, and it went relatively smoothly. The compost that fell into the tray was nice and dry and pleasant smelling for dumping out in the compost pile.

Thank you and best wishes to everyone,”

Carol and Sid

*Note: It is very important to check with us before making any modifications to the system to ensure proper performance.

"I could not be happier with my new toilet."

Posted by Scott

“I have been interested in owning a Envirolet Composting toilet since I was 17 …”

Emily in Minnesota shows us persistence pays off. She sent us some great shots of her Envirolet® Composting Toilet. She also sent some of the kindest words we have ever received.

I have been interested in owning a Envirolet Composting toilet since I was 17 and saw the ad in the back of Mother Earth News. I begged my mom but never succeeded in getting her to purchase one.

Finally at 27 I am a proud owner of my very own Envirolet. I live in a small camper trailor on an organic farm in Minnesota. I did not want to stink up my living quarters by using the toilet inside. I was surfing the net and found a website called “Twin Cities Free Market”, folks post stuff they do not want in hopes that someone will come and pick it up. Everything posted is free! A wonderful woman, posted an Envirolet and she chose me to be the new owner! She said she received 57 emails in response to her post. She loved her envirolet but, was moving to Mexico and could not transport it with her.

I could not be happier with my new toilet. I put it behind the trailor and every morning put on my rubber boots and house coat and admire my surroundings while using the Envirolet. I installed a gravity water system next to it so, I have everything but a shower at my trailor.

Thanks for the wonderful design! I will have it until I move to Mexico!”

Envirolet Basic Plus in Garage

Posted by Scott

Sheila and Peter in Alberta kindly sent in a bunch of nice photos and comments about their Envirolet® Basic Plus system installation.

“Our Envirolet Story”

“We got our Envirolet toilet for the garage - my husband does a lot of wood working out there and then comes into the house all dusty and dirty. So that has changed and we are both happy. And the neighbours can not smell anything!

Also, with the climate changing, I wanted to be able to “go” in comfort, should there be a water shortage - similar to the one in Tofino B.C. this summer!

We wallpapered with left over wall paper and made it all cosy! Flashlight in case of power outage - even though it is wired for electricity.”
