"Your composting system saved the day."

Posted by Scott

Frank & Joyce sent some photos of their Envirolet® Waterless Remote System (in Canada go here) in their beautiful blue BC cottage!

“A little history of our property. I purchased it 28 years ago with 3 partners and bought them out in 2004. It’s located at Osprey Lake between Princeton & Peachland BC. Our cabin is at 1130m. We cleared property and then built. We are on low land so we built on concrete pillars and did not qualify for a septic system.

We searched the net and found SANCOR ENVIROLET waterless remote system. Your composting system saved the day, also it was good to know it was environmentally friendly.

Had to dig in the composting system below the house so poured a concrete base and concrete block walls below grade and also installed a drain system in the slab since I was concerned about rain and snow melting I closed it in. It is a great recreation area about 150 meters from the Kettle Valley Railway, which gives us lots of access to the mountains and 6 lakes in the area.

You can use our story and pictures if you like.”

Thanks,
Frank & Joyce L.

"We have been EXTREMELY pleased with our Envirolet system!"

Posted by Scott

Some happy customers in Texas sent us some wonderful comments and photos of their Envirolet® MS10 composting toilet system installation.

“Dear Buzz ~

Two years ago we purchased a small cabin on Possum Kingdom Lake in North Texas. It doesn’t have any running water, but we figured we had been campers all our lives, so we didn’t really have a problem venturing out into the woods - even late at night or in the COLD of winter! Well, after a year of pitch dark, sometimes freezing cold nights trying to find “our spots” in the woods, and in the interest of safety (we do hear coyotes and we have seen rattlesnakes) and overall environmental concerns and hygiene, we decided it was time to step up to an indoor “throne”!

After months of searching the Internet, and debating with ourselves if we were willing to go the $10K route of installing a septic system, or if we even wanted consider building an outhouse (yes, we found plans for building several different styles of outhouses!), we found your product! We were VERY impressed (although somewhat skeptical about the smell, since it would be in the one large closet in the house), and we decided to purchase ourselves a much needed Christmas gift! Now we sit back and laugh at that first year wondering “What were we thinking?!?!?”

We have been EXTREMELY pleased with our Envirolet system! It was VERY easy to install (although my husband did bend a few blades on his reciprocating saw trying to cut the perfect hole in our A-Frame roof). And we’ve had more friends willing to come visit us at the lake now that they don’t have to “go in the woods”! And now we joke about how the “closet” is the best smelling room in the house!

Thank you for helping us “come in out of the cold” and giving our little piece of paradise a much needed upgrade.”

Sincerely,
K. & C. C.

Envirolet featured on Worldwatch Institute web site

Envirolet® Composting Toilet Systems were discussed in a story on the Worldwatch Institute web site this week in a story, appropriately titled Composting Toilets Offer Solution to Water, Sanitation Problems.

Here is an excerpt:

For many parts of the world, flushing with clean water (often water that has been purified to drinking quality standards) has never been an option. According to the World Health Organization, as many as 1.1 billion people, almost all in the developing world, still do not have access to safe water, and some 2.6 billion people—about 4 in 10—lack access to basic sanitation. Every year, 1.6 million people die from diarrhoeal diseases spread by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation.

Scott Smith of Sancor Industries notes that his company will be offering lower-cost composting toilets starting in 2007 in hopes of serving the developing country market. According to Smith, it is important to promote the systems in both developed and developing nations. While the compost resource the toilets provide can be beneficial to people across the globe, the real issue is saving water, he explains: “Composting toilets are a solution to the water crisis that is coming.”

10 Year Old Envirolet Waterless Remote in Maine

Posted by Scott

Ron in Maine sent us some great photos of his 10 year old Envirolet® Waterless Remote System. You will notice that the waterless toilet is different than our current model.

“Hello my name is Ron B.

We built our cabin in Maine ten years ago we didn’t have water so we checked out waterless toilet systems. Envirolet seemed to be just what we wanted. We went with the 12 volt system and have been totally satisfied with it.

Your suggestion as to what to do with the compost after cleaning has made our small garden thrive. We now have electricity and have been thinking of up grading to the 110 volt works in a drawer. I want to thank you for making a great system. Hope you like the photos.”

" I never thought that I would be bragging about a toilet!"

Posted by Scott

Bonnie in Minnesota sent us a nice photo of the Envirolet® Basic Plus they have installed at her church. The Envirolet® Basic Plus is a non-electric composting toilet system.

“To Whom it may concern,

My name is Bonnie. I am writing to tell you that our church we raised money for buying on of you non-electric composting toilets. I have to say that it was the Best thing that we have done. We were renting a port-a-potty. And the smell was just awful, and it was emptied every other week. And the smell was still awful! Since we have bought the composting toliet, it has really blessed us. We no longer have to spend lots of money renting a toilet. And there is NO SMELL with our toilet now. I never thought that I would be bragging about a toilet! But this one deserves all the bragging. I am so amazed at it, having no smell.

envirolet_basic_plus_MN-400.jpg

Our church is not a church building church, we hold church in a pole shed made into a church. And it was so nice not having to worry about having electricity hooked up to it, and not needing water. The shed it is in is a shed that was bought at a hardware store! How much simpler can it get. I am proud to say that Envirolet has made a wonderful toilet. I would recommend your company to anyone.

Thank you soooooo much for all you do. Keep on making those wonderful toilets.

God Bless each one of you.”

Sincerely,
Bonnie P.

Envirolet Featured in the Toronto Star

Posted by Scott

Envirolet® Composting Toilets were featured in the Toronto Star New in Homes section on Saturday, November 11 in a look at alternative toilet technology.

Here’s an excerpt:

Toilet technology makes adding loo easier
Another option that’s gaining popularity is the composting toilet. “The interest has been going up in the last few years, as there’s more focus on green issues and water shortages,” says Scott Smith of Sancor, a Canadian company that makes a line of low-water and waterless composting toilets. The units use aeration, evaporation and microbial activity to turn human waste into compost material.
