Mike in BC was kind enough to send some nice photos and words about his 8 year old Envirolet MS10 composting toilet system that is installed in his BC lakeside cottage.

“Hi Guys,

I have had an Envirolet composting toilet for eight years now and have nothing but good to say about them. I have it installed in a cottage that is located 15 feet from the shore of Okanagan Lake In BC. The attached pictures show the toilet and the view from the toilet.”

"This is our 5th season with the system and we couldn't be any happier with it."

Posted by Scott

Ed in New Hampshire sent us some awesome photos and his testimonial about his Envirolet Low Water Remote Composting Toilet System installation.

Attached are a few pictures of our low water Envirolet system. This is our 5th season with the system and we couldn’t be any happier with it. Our camp is situated on ledge so a septic system was going to cost a fortune and look ugly. When we first purchase the system we weren’t sure how good it was going to be?? Let me tell you it works exactly the way it advertised. On several occasions I had questions about the system and the customer service was outstanding.

The Envirolet low water system is a quality product and has customer service & technical support that you are sure to appreciate.

Thank you, Sancor”

“Dear Envirolet:

We have been very happy with Envirolet. Last year, we installed our third Envirolet toilet at our cottage. My wife and daughters are excited that we actually have a FLUSHING toilet for the first time there!

Many thanks to Envirolet for a great product. Installation of the low water flush system was easy and tool less than a day.”

Selected Envirolet Over the Competitors; Happy with Decision

Posted by Scott

Envirolet Recommened by Envirolet User

Thanks to Nick in Ontario (on Lake Superior near Sault Ste. Marie) for sending in his comments and great photos of his Envirolet MS10 installation.

“We purchased and installed our Envirolet Multi System 10/3 (110 volts & 3” vent) in July 2002. It’s been a welcome addition to our cottage. Since we purchased the cottage in 1990, we’ve had hot and cold running water and indoor plumbing; but no indoor toilet. (No septic system.) Two considerations prompted us to purchase the Envirolet over the competitor’s toilet:

1. A recommendation from another user, and

2. Space restrictions - it fit perfectly between our tub and vanity.

I clean out the Envirolet toilet each winter and begin each spring with a fresh “starter kit.”

The only problem we’ve had with the toilet is a failed exhaust fan. I replaced it with one that I received free, covered under the 4-year warranty. Failure of the fan was partially my fault. When I installed the vent pipe, the outside portion was insulated but I did not insulate the pipe in the cottage or the attic. Cold weather caused condensation of moisture inside the pipe. The condensation ran down the pipe and directly onto the fan. I now have the whole vent pipe well insulated.*

All in all, we’re happy with the toilet. Although we’ve never tried the competitors, I can’t imagine it being better in any way.”

Nick P.

* This is an uncommon problem, but can occur as it did in Nick’s case, if you have condensation running down your vent pipe. It is always recommended to add insulation to your venting.

No More Trips to the Outhouse

Posted by Scott

Thanks to Paul in Ohio for sending his testimonial and photo of his Envirolet MS10 at his Ontario camp.

“Nothing special with our set up in the ‘Necessary Room.’

Works great for our camp in Ontario, Canada. Don’t have to use the outhouse anymore in the middle of the night or when it is cold at our camp. Thanks for the easier amenities. One day I will get around to improve the ambiance of the room.”

Canada's Worst Handyman 2 Eco-Sheds Being Auctioned Off

Posted by Scott

cwh2_ebay.JPG Money Going to Habitat for Humanity Canada

You can bid on eBay on the six eco-sheds built on Canada’s Worst Handyman 2 (previous post) from Discovery Channel Canada. The sheds are filled with $10,000 worth of new materials including an Envirolet in some sheds…

But, here’s the fun catch. Five of the 6 sheds were built by the show contestants (aka the “worst handymen/women!) and one was built by the experts. You do not know which shed of the six you are bidding on…but the money goes to a good cause. And, if you end up with the absolute worst handyman’s shed you get special bonus prize. They ask that bidders be within 100km radius of Greater Toronto because of the size of the items.

Good luck!

“Dear Customer Service at Envirolet:

We are really happy with our 120vac electric waterless unit on our slate floor in our converted barn here in Pennsylvania. I just ordered more compost accelerator for the unit which has been in operation for 15 months. Yeah!!!”

Envirolet Working Great in BC

Posted by Scott

Jeff sent in some photos of his Envirolet Low Water/Waterless Remote Combo composting toilet system in BC. The low water toilet is inside and the waterless toilet is outside. Cool installation!

“Hi there,

We installed a combination waterless/low water system in our cabin on Savary Island, BC last summer (2006). I built a covered deck off the back of our house for the ‘outhouse’ portion (reserved for the guys). See photos.

The low water toilet is indoors in a regular bathroom (reserved for the girls). So far it is all working great.”

48 Years of Outhouse Trips Now Over!

Posted by Scott

“We absolutely love the system”

Dennis sent great comments about his Envirolet MS10 composting toilet system installed at his camp in Maine. Envirolet has saved them from anymore trips to the outhouse!

“Dear Envirolet,

Here is a picture of the installation I did at our cottage two years ago. I had very little room for a toilet and as you can see; your unit fit the situation to a “T”.

For 48 years we ran to an outhouse no matter what time of year we were at the camp, but not anymore. We absolutely love the system, especially the ladies. It’s easy to maintain even in the small space I had to put it. It saved us thousands of dollars that would have been needed for a flush type toilet with a pumping station, tank, & filter bed.

Your product is the best and I’ve told numerous other people about it. It certainly beats having to run to an outhouse and the lack of odor is a big plus!

Keep up the good work.”

Canada's Worst Handyman Goes Green

Posted by Scott

worst_handyman.jpg Look for Envirolet on Canada’s Worst Handyman Season 2 in May on Discovery Channel Canada! This year there is a green element to the show this year with contestants making eco-friendly sheds, which of include an Envirolet composting toilet system.

Here’s a little more about the show from Channel Canada:

“Padlock your toolbox! Discovery Channel has rounded up another gang of disastrously inept unhandy men and women for Canada’s Worst Handyman 2. Last spring, Discovery Channel and Canada’s Worst Handyman introduced Canadian viewers to five do-it-yourselfers with reno ambitions that so exceeded their abilities that they’d left monumental home improvement disasters in their wake. Season 2 of the hit series, premiering Mon., April 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, features another motley (construction) crew committed to learning the ABCs of DIY.

In the nine-part second series, each of the five new bumbling builders - nominated by a friend, colleague or family member - is charged with the task of building a shed. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? But this is no ordinary shed - building a luxury eco shed from scratch is the ultimate battlefield for these tool-challenged handymen.

Watch for the Envirolet System to make its appearance on May 14. The synopsis (also from Channel Canada):

Canada’s Worst Handyman 2: “In Too Deep”
Mon., May 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT
A surprising new addition to the group changes everything; and peace in the ranks is briefly restored… that is, until the handymen start grouting tiles and installing pine ceilings. Creature comforts inside the eco sheds start to take shape as high-tech hammocks and eco toilets are installed. Tempers heat up again, however, when the group works together on a wood-fired hot tub. See who is in hot water as the experts peg one of the team as this week’s Worst Handyman.

We can’t wait to see it! The eco-sheds are going to be auctioned off, with Envirolet inside, with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. More info on this when available.

Happy Buyers at Cottage Life Show

Posted by Scott

We love hearing feedback. We especially love hearing it so soon! Richard and Judy attended the Spring Cottage Life Show (previous post) this past weekend and ended up taking home a new Envirolet MS10 composting toilet system (go to envirolet.ca in Canada)! And, I was lucky enough to be the one who was able to help them out at the show.

“Just a short note to say how pleased we were in our visit and search at the Cottage Life Show on Friday and to Scott Smith for the professional care and attention he gave us regarding information on the Envirolet systems – namely the MS10 unit.

Our intentions were to thoroughly investigate the different products at the show, do our comparisons and perhaps decide on a purchase. After reviewing and comparing products and companies, we felt very comfortable about buying an Envirolet system from Scott. We appreciate Scott looking after our questions and needs. We will certainly recommend Scott and your company to others. We look forward to hearing from you in the next few days regarding available time for pickup. Thank you.”
