Envirolet Reviews: Envirolet WRS in Colorado Rockies
A big thank you you to Edward for sending in some photos and comments about his Envirolet® Waterless Remote composting toilet system that has been installed and in use in his cabin in the Colorado Rockies since 2001. As Edward states, the Envirolet® saved him thousands in comparison to a septic tank system.
Attached are three photos of our Envirolet Waterless Remote 120VAC system installed in the crawl space under our cabin high in the Colorado Rockies. The system was installed in 2001 to replace a flush toilet which was stressing our septic system. The cost of the unit was about one tenth of the estimate for replacing the septic system. The Envirolet also has the benefit of being usable when our well is shut down in the winter.
As you can see, I had to dig a recess in order to place the toilet in the same location as the flush toilet. I was able to route the vent through the same wall and roof cut outs after enlarging them for the larger vent piping. I also had to enlarge the hatch through the bathroom floor to fit the tank through the opening. The tank rests on two short pieces of 2x6 lumber.
One unexpected benefit of the system is the exhaust venting keeps the bathroom free of odors - a particularly nice feature in a small cabin with the dining table located near the bathroom!
