Envirolet at IDS08, Part 3

We first wrote about IDS08 on Friday when we posted a quick video. As promised, here are some of the photos from the Envirolet® installation at the Sarah Richardson’s My Country design, part of designLIVE feature at IDS08.

An Envirolet® composting toilet system was the perfect choice to handle sanitation in a sustainable and environment-friendly manner, two goals of the overall designLIVE project. This particular model uses only 0.5L of water per flush.

Envirolet at IDS08

An Envirolet® VF™ composting toilet system is part of Sarah Richardson’s home design for designLIVE at IDS08 (Interior Design Show) in Toronto. The show runs this weekend at Exhibition Place.

Sarah Richardson is the star of HGTV’s Sarah’s House and Design Inc.

We have more photos to come, but for now here is a quick video of the Envirolet®.

Envirolet in Washington: "We love it."

An Envirolet® in Washington is helping keep the water clean for the clams and oysters!

Thanks to Tom for sending in photos and a testimonial about his Envirolet® Waterless Remote Composting Toilet System (120VAC) installation. A great feature of the Envirolet® Waterless Remote is that it does not require a drain for excess liquids.

“We installed our Envirolet composting toilet in Washington where we’ve built a vacation cabin on an acre of waterfront in a saltwater estuary on the Puget Sound. Since we have some of the best tasting, cleanest clams and oysters in the state on our beach, we want to keep them that way. So we decided on a composting toilet.

It’s been great! The “biffy” stands up to the needs of our family, small groups, and occasional larger parties with no problem. We love it. I’ve enclosed some pictures.”

Killer? That’s right! Cynthia has poisoned, knifed, blown up, shot, or bludgeoned about two dozen people — in her murder mystery novels!

Small installations? Try a land based wooden boat named Victorious, a 1967 37-foot Egg Harbor sport fisherman that’s going to need years of work before she can put to sea. In the meantime, she’s parked in a pasture on Martha’s Vineyard where she’s being used as an office. The nearest toilet was far away until we installed the Envirolet. No fans, no moving parts, simply flush with water from a container (no water connection on board as yet).”

In-the-Field Photos: Emptying an Envirolet

People often ask what it is like to empty an Envirolet composting toilet.

The emptied compost Well, thanks to Sheila and Peter in Alberta you can see from an end-user point-of-view what it is like. They sent us some great photos of the emptying process for their Envirolet Basic Plus (Non-Electric) composting toilet system.
