Envirolet Reviews: Waterless Self-Contained MS10 at Cabin in Maine

“We had installed an electric Envirolet in a small cabin/trailer we own in Maine. It worked very well, and when we decided to install a full septic system for the cabin (the restrictions on disposing of grey water near the shore led us to go whole hog on a full system), we moved our Envirolet to another location.

The Envirolet is located in a shed-like area on the far right of the building in a remote cabin in Maine that is only accessible by water or a half-mile hike in the woods. At this cabin we use propane to power a stove and refrigerator and gas lights, but we do have photo-voltaic power that I hope will support at least the fan element of the electric Envirolet. I have installed a wind turbine ventilator to make sure the Envirolet is well aired.

We are sold on the Envirolet way of treating fragile shoreline areas with care and respect.”

Envirolet Reviews: Envirolet Hybrid Waterless Self-Contained

Pat from Wyoming sent us comments and photos of their Envirolet® Hybrid Waterless Self-Contained Composting Toilet that is powered by solar panels.

“We installed a waterless hybrid Envirolet toilet in our mountaintop log cabin in Wyoming two years ago. We’re better than a mile off the electrical grid, so the fans run continuously off a small set of solar panels, and the heater runs for an hour at a time 3 times a day powered by a larger set of solar panels which also provide our lights and other minor electrical uses. We have been very pleased with the operation of the unit … it’s simple, effective, and a heck of a lot more pleasant than the old outhouse.

We really appreciated the help of Envirolet’s tech support people, who pointed us to the hybrid model as a good compromise between our need to stay low power, and our county inspector’s insistence that the completely un-powered model would require a full-size septic field, which we really didn’t want to try to install in the very rocky ground.”
